2009 Bossier Federal Scholarship Winners Announced
Congratulations to our winners! First
place and $2500 in scholarship money has been awarded to
Nicholas Taylor (C.E. Byrd), second place and $1500 went to
James Davis (Loyola College Prep), third place and $1000
was awarded to Martin Marak (Loyola College Prep) and Donald
Harris (Airline High) received third place and $500 in
scholarship funds.
Bossier Federal is very excited about
the overall participation in our scholarship program for the
second year. With entries from Caddo and Bossier parishes and
active involvement from most school senior counselors it was a
difficult task to choose the winners from so many worthy college
bound students. The application process included an essay on
“What can credit unions do to encourage today’s youth to join
and take advantage of credit union products and services?” and a
completed application on scholastic honors and awards,
extracurricular activities and work experience. With the coming
school year we look forward to more scholarship opportunities
for the 2010 graduating seniors and an active role in our
educational community.

Relay For Life
Relay For Life is an annual event that brings together cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and participants who celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. This is the second year that Bossier Parish has played host to Relay For Life and the first year that Bossier Federal has participated. Through out the night our employees walked the track, fundraised and had a blast! We had over 20 members on our team and walked over 25 miles!
Everyone’s support helps fund research to develop new cancer treatment technologies, efforts to pass cancer-fighting legislation and community programs to help patients and their loved ones cope with cancer. Bossier Federal looks forward to participating in the Third Annual Relay For Life in 2010!

Digital Fingerprinting for Kids
Bossier Federal Credit Union, Sudden Link Media, Life Wise Cable Media and Cumulus Radio teamed up July 25 to offer free “Digital Fingerprinting for Kids,” at
Bossier Federal’s main branch.
Through “Digital Fingerprinting for Kids,” each child received an 8x10 printout that included the child’s photo and fingerprints, along with his or her personal information, such as height, weight and hair color. Information and fingerprints are strictly for the privacy of the families, and no information has been kept on file. In addition, the first 300 children attending the event received a free DNA Kit and safety whistle with laser light.
This program has helped protect thousands of children from crimes by providing their parents and guardians with practical tools such as the child’s digital fingerprints and safety tips.
“We wanted to encourage families to take advantage of this free service to protect their children,” stated Jim Perkins, Chief Executive Officer of
Bossier Federal. “Having this information is especially important and we are happy to have brought this opportunity to our local community,” said Perkins.

2008 Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk
In May of 2008 Bossier Federal, formally known as Bossier Federal, sponsored a local community event at the Louisiana Boardwalk. Not only was it the Boardwalk’s Third Anniversary but it was also the 2008 Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk! A group of Bossier FCU employees volunteered to spend their Saturday morning walking for this cause.
Our team included Matt Harper, Lindsay Haley, Danielle Taylor, Anteja Black, Matt Sanders, his wife Heidi, their son Lleyton and Jill Skaggs. Shortly after taking a few espresso shots from the free Sonic stand we were ready for our two-mile trek in our HOPE shirts. The walk went by so quickly simply because we were all talking, laughing and just enjoying being apart of this amazing community event. Overall, it was wonderful way to start a Saturday morning with food, fun and fellowship. It was a great turn out for the Alzheimer’s Association’s first year.
Over $15,000 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Research Fund.
Bossier Federal strives to take an active role in community events and charitable causes within our area..
