Important Information for your Debit/ATM Card

New Federal Regulations have changed the way Courtesy Pay works for you and your family. We understand mistakes happen and while we do not advocate overdrawing your account, keeping your account in good standing is extremely important.

The new regulation requires you to “Say Yes” to Courtesy Pay in order to continue receiving, or participate in, the overdraft services that protect your account. Bossier Federal’s Overdraft Payment Service is a convenient feature of your checking account that gives Bossier Federal the discretion to pay transactions, including ATM and debit card transactions, when your account does not have sufficient funds to pay the item.

Everyday debit card transactions are purchases you make through day-to-day spending at grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, payments over the phone or through online merchants. Debit card purchases that bill your account automatically (like a gym membership) and checks written by you are not affected by the new regulation and will continue to be covered by Courtesy Pay.

We need your permission if you want to continue receiving, or participate, in the overdraft services that protect your account. Without your permission, any overdrawn purchases made with your debit card, or ATM withdrawals exceeding your balance, will be DECLINED. Even in an emergency your transactions will be declined – unless you act now and give us permission to continue your overdraft services.

What’s changing?
Unless you give us permission, we cannot continue to offer the overdraft services you may expect to receive on your debit card and ATM transactions.

Why?
The overdraft services you presently have can only be offered with your permission, due to new regulations.

Who’s affected?
All of our members who use debit cards for purchases or make ATM withdrawals.

How can I continue to receive overdraft services?
Say “YES” to Overdraft Payment Service for debit card and ATM transactions either by contacting our member service department at 318.212.6100 or stopping by at any one of our four offices.
